The 5th European Battery, Hybrid and Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle Congress (EEVC) was held in Geneva from 14-16 March.

Kezhen Hu, a visiting DPhil student at the TSU, made a presentation in the congress entitled "'Driving characteristics' effects on EV energy consumption - a case study in Beijing".

In the presentation Hu pointed out the traffic conditions, road infrastructure design and driving habits would induce different driving behaviors or 'characteristics' among drivers. These characteristics, Hu identifies, result in different energy consumption and, in the complex urban driving scenario, a higher energy regeneration ratio doesn't necessarily bring higher energy efficiency but in fact the opposite.
