The Centre on Innovation and Energy Demand (CIED)'s first ever Summer School took place from 10-12 July 2017 at the University of Sussex, Brighton, UK.

TSU director, Tim Schwanen and Departmental Research Lecturer, Debbie Hopkins, both took part in the CIED summer school, on the topic of 'accelerating innovation to reduce energy demand'.

The three-day school involved lectures, student presentations, and activities. Tim played the part of a 'dragon' in the Dragon Den-styled innovation workshop offering critical feedback on their innovations to reduce energy demand, and Debbie ran a thesis-in-three session where the participants spoke about their own research for three minutes.
