In November, the TSU and the Brazilian Institute for Applied Economic Research (Ipea) co-organised a seminar entitled "Transport legacy of mega-events, equity and the future of public transport in Rio de Janeiro".

Hosted by Ipea in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the event garnered interest from specialists in the field as well as the media and was covered by various national TV channels and newspapers in Brazil. Approximately 70 researchers, representatives from non-governmental organisations and policy-makers attended, discussing the transport legacy of mega-events, uneven urban development and the future of urban and transport planning in Rio de Janeiro.

The presentations and discussions are available to watch online:

The seminar was supported by the WRI Ross Center for Sustainable Cities through the Lee Schipper Memorial Scholarship, which was awarded to TSU DPhil candidate Rafael Pereira. Pereira's research focuses on transportation equity in transport policies.
