Academic Profile

Georgina Santos is a Departmental Lecturer at the Transport Studies Unit in the School of Geography and the Environment at the University of Oxford. She did her first degree at Universidad Nacional del Sur, Argentina, her MSc at University College London, and her PhD at Downing College, University of Cambridge. She worked as a Research Assistant at the Department of Applied Economics at Cambridge from October 1997 till August 2001. After that she held a British Academy post-doctoral fellowship hosted by the same department and a Junior Research Fellowship at Wolfson College, Cambridge, between 2001 and 2004.

Current Research

Georgina Santos has recently joined the Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment as a research fellow. Her 'home' department continues to be the Transport Studies Unit. Her current research falls under three themes:

  1. Emission trading in the road transport sector (in collaboration with David Bonilla);
  2. Comparison of price and quantity controls to reduce CO2 emissions in the road transport sector; and
  3. Harmonisation of transport taxes and duties, to include all modes across all EU countries.
