Dr Torben Holvad

About

Torben Holvad is an Economic Advisor at the European Railway Agency (ERA) in Valenciennes / Lille in France. His main responsibilities at ERA are the economic evaluation (cost-benefit analysis) of the recommendations being developed by the Agency. Prior to this position Torben Holvad was a Research Associate at the Transport Studies Unit at the University of Oxford and is an external associate professor at the Centre for Traffic and Transport at the Danish Technical University.

Torben Holvad has an MSc in economics from Copenhagen University and a PhD in economics from the European University Institute in Florence. He has significant expertise in transport economics with particular emphasis on regulation of public transport, transport infrastructure appraisal and regional economic development. He has been involved in many European funded research projects on transport since 1994. He has published numerous papers on efficiency and productivity measurement, appraisal of transport schemes, access pricing in the railway sector, computable general equilibrium models and transport policy issues.
