TSU Annual Report 2021

2021's media agenda was dominated by the climate crisis and Covid-19, and many of the TSU's research projects and executive education courses relate to these important topics of our time. From looking at how cycling can better accelerate net-zero versus electric vehicles, to examining climate related migration and mobilities in Ethiopia; documenting the everyday life of essential workers during the pandemic, to convening leading academics to discuss urban mobility after Covid-19. The TSU also launched innovative projects on a range of other important issues including: a public awareness film 'For Mahesh' designed to draw attention to the challenges faced by auto-rickshaw drivers as customers switch to new technologies; a project examining transport unaffordability and new research on the governance of Low Traffic Neighbourhoods.

Tim Schwanen, Professor of Transport Studies and Geography and Director of the TSU said:

The shocks and changes transport systems are undergoing have been central to our activities and executive education programme. This Annual Report offers an overview of many of the team's new achievements. 2021 has not been an easy year as we mostly worked from home and sometimes dispersed across the planet but I am immensely proud of what we have collectively achieved.
