The TSU supports the success of City+2025@Oxford conference
The City+2025@Oxford conference was successfully held at the School of Geography, Oxford University on 29 and 30 September. Xiang Ao, a DPhil student at TSU, served as the local chair.
Xiang opened the conference by highlighting the international scope, student-led organisation, engagement with early career researchers, and focus on interdisciplinary urban studies of this year’s conference. Tim Schwanen acted as the honorary chair and joined the opening panel discussion on ‘Interdisciplinary Data Analytics in the Age of Polycrisis’, together with Professor Melinda Mills.
Some of the TSU DPhil students were actively engaged in this special event:
- Sieun Lee chaired the session ‘Mobility Equity and Accessibility’.
- Yi Fan Liu chaired the session ‘Production of Space and Urban Justice’.
- Clive Parkinson chaired the session ‘Data-driven Methods for Urban Issues’.
- Camila Ramos presented her research on a theoretical framework for transport accessibility thresholds informed by the Capabilities Approach and chaired the session ‘Infrastructure, Connectivity, and Spatial Economics’.
- Zhaoqi Zhou shared his work on impact of cycling infrastructure on property price in Shenzhen and chaired the session ‘Social and Spatial Inequality’.
The City+2025@Oxford conference is the 8th conference in its series. It brought together over 175 attendees from 96 universities and institutes across 23 countries/regions. The conference featured a rich and diverse programme, including a formal dinner at Mansfield College, 1 opening panel discussion, 3 plenary keynotes, 4 workshops, and 138 presentations.
