100 Reasons to Walk and Cycle: TSU Contributes to WHO Campaign that Highlights Health, Climate and Community Wins

The WHO’s new campaign brochure, “100 Reasons to Cycle and Walk More,” champions active travel as a solution to today’s health, environmental and social challenges. With strong evidence from across Europe, the guide outlines how ‘active travel’ (walking, cycling, wheeling) improves physical and mental health, reduces emissions, boosts local economies and creates safer, more inclusive communities. Research by Christian Brand (UKERC and the TSU, University of Oxford) features prominently, showing for instance how shifting from car to bike for one daily trip can cut transport emissions by over 80%. It’s a timely call to embed active mobility in policy and practice. #LetsGetMoving
