Dr Brendan Doody was selected as the recipient of a 2021 Divisional Teaching Excellence Award for Excellence in Supervision by the University of Oxford Social Sciences Divisional Board. The award recognises Dr Doody's outstanding contribution to teaching and doctoral supervision within the School of Geography and the Environment (SoGE), and the Division.

Brendan was nominated for the award by SoGE DPhil student Adam Packer. The Social Sciences Division's Quality Assurance Committee was very impressed to note the exceptional feedback Brendan provides to doctoral students, the thoughtful guidance he offers outside of scheduled supervisions, and his commitment to the personal, academic, and professional development of those he supervises.

Brendan is currently working on a project titled Changing drivers: Knowing, imagining and shaping autonomous car users. Funded by a British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowship, this project explores how innovations in passenger vehicle automation are being designed, developed and tested.

He is also co-supervising Adam Packer with Professor Gillian Rose. Adam's ESRC-funded DPhil is examining discourses of citizenship emerging in smart city projects in Oxfordshire.
